A letter to her husband

I know love shouldn't end in a day or a decade, it should last beyond all time.
And you may have loved her for half your life, but I have loved her all of mine.

She is the big sister I never had, my role model I have always looked up to.
And truly there was not a happier heart than mine, the day she married you.

I looked at your love and commitment to each other with complete admiration.
And I remember a word from my speech that day, that word was "Inspiration"

That day I believed that one day I might find the same kind of undying devotion.
Because your love for each other had inspired in me, the "happily ever after" notion.

I held so strongly to that fairy tale wish that even when I knew she was lost to you,
I just couldn't imagine the two of you apart, and so I refused to believe it was true.

But life has a way of breaking something beautiful, that is what I have come to believe.
Because it is so much harder to maintain love than hate, and it is for lost love I grieve.

Now you work so hard to tear her down, taking it upon yourself to judge and remand.
But we come from a different world than you, that is something you don't understand.

There is a difference between those who've lived a life of comfort and a life of living hell.
Words don't break us or make us bleed, your disdain wont keep her locked inside her cell.

She has faced far worse monsters than you, worse than most people ever even imagine.
And the strength she gained by fighting those battles is greater than you could fathom.

So keep pushing her down time and time again, if that's what gets you off be the big man.
And she will silently soak in your tragic tantrums, but you'd be wise not to misunderstand.

Silence is strength and she is stronger than you, and I will be cheering her on that day
that she finally gathers up all that strength, throws her ring at your face and walks away.
